Bangladesh Clarifies Aircraft Deal with US Amid Sergio Gor's Remarks

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam suggested that US Special Envoy Sergio Gor's recent remarks about Bangladesh purchasing more Boeing aircraft might be referring to an earlier deal.

Gor had stated in a post on X that Bangladesh has committed billions of dollars to buy additional Boeing aircraft under a new deal between Dhaka and Washington.

However, Obaed pointed out that this could be related to the country's previously concluded aircraft deal with Boeing, which was signed in April.

The deal is valued at $3.7 billion for 14 planes to be used by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national carrier.
