Bangladesh Doubles Down on Boeing Aircraft Orders with Trump-Era Deal
Bangladesh is set to expand its Boeing aircraft purchases under a new deal reached between Dhaka and Washington. US Ambassador to India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs Sergio Gor made the announcement on X, stating that an 'incredible deal' had been reached between US President Donald Trump and Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The agreement would see Bangladesh invest billions of dollars in buying more Boeing aircraft, substantially increasing its initial order. The country's previous Boeing order was for 14 aircraft as part of its fleet modernisation programme, which included eight Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and four Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft, valued at around $3.7 billion.
Gor did not specify the number, models or total value of the additional aircraft, nor whether a formal purchase agreement had been signed. The announcement follows Gor's recent visit to Bangladesh, where he held meetings with senior officials on bilateral relations, trade and economic cooperation.
