Bank of New York Mellon Corp Doubles Down on Amazon Stake with $16 Billion Bet
Bank of New York Mellon Corp has significantly increased its stake in Amazon.com Inc. by purchasing approximately 68,563,416 shares during the second quarter, according to a recent Form 13F filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission.
The total value of these new shares is around $16,341,405,000 and represent about 2.7% of Bank of New York Mellon Corp's investment portfolio, making Amazon its fourth biggest position.
This move follows other institutional investors who have also increased their stakes in Amazon.com, including Gryphon Financial Partners LLC, which boosted its holdings by 7.5% in the first quarter, and Arrowstreet Capital Limited Partnership, which raised its position by 21.0% during the fourth quarter.
Amazon's projected capital expenditures for 2026 are around $220 billion, and some investors have expressed concerns about the company's spending and leverage, particularly in relation to its AI expansion plans.
