Barber County Commissioners Set to Finalize Deal for Google Data Center

The Barber County Commission will hold a special meeting on Monday to discuss and potentially finalize an agreement with Google to build a hyperscale data center in the county.

Project Helium, as it's called, is expected to be built north of Sharon and would create 500 new jobs, according to Google. Most of these positions would be full-time and on-site.

The project has been met with some resistance from county residents, who are concerned about the potential impact on the landscape.
