Batista Steps into the God of War Role in Amazon Series
Former WWE star Dave Batista has secured a major role in Amazon's upcoming TV series 'God of War'. The series, based on the PlayStation video game franchise, will see Batista play Kratos, a character he has now officially been confirmed for. This news comes after earlier rumors broke about his involvement.
Ryan Hurst was initially cast as Kratos but had to drop out due to a torn bicep while filming. The series is currently being filmed in Vancouver, Canada, and has a two-season order with both seasons being shot back-to-back.
The story of the 'God of War' games will be picked up from where the two most recent games left off. Kratos must raise his 10-year-old son Atreus while battling gods of the Norse pantheon. The show's logline reads: 'Father and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye.' Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.'
