Bay Area Schools Benefit from Salesforce's Long-Term Philanthropic Commitment
Salesforce's CEO and founder Marc Benioff has kept his promise to invest $100 million in Bay Area schools over 10 years, surpassing that goal by a significant margin. In 2013, he donated $2.7 million to San Francisco's schools as the down payment on this long-term commitment.
In addition to monetary donations totaling $156 million so far, Salesforce also donates hundreds of hours of employee time and provides free or reduced technology to the schools.
The company's philanthropic efforts focus on improving access to technology, math instruction, and increasing participation in computer science classes. This year's annual round of education grants will amount to $27 million, including $18 million combined for San Francisco and Oakland school districts.
