Behr's 2027 Color of the Year Grounded: An Earthy Olive Green

Behr Paint's team of color experts created Grounded, its 2027 Color of the Year, from scratch. The olive green shade has mossy notes and a brown undertone that sets it apart from other greens. According to Kayla Kratz, Behr's head of color, 'We created a completely new color that wasn't in our collection before.'

Grounded was developed after testing dozens of options, with the final version having a brown cast rather than a gray one. This distinction separates it from the sage greens popular over the past few years. Kratz notes that Grounded is close to last year's Hidden Gem but has more brown and less blue.

The color is designed to work well with existing home materials, such as wood floors, cream upholstery, old brass, and beige or gray sofas. 'Grounded is that anchor in the space that brings those materials to life,' Kratz says. The shade will be available in various Behr paint lines at The Home Depot.
