Beloved Husband, Father, and Golfer Passes Away at 79
Edward Harry Martin Jr., a veteran and devoted family man, passed away on August 3, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on February 27, 1947, to Edward Harry Martin Sr. and Irene (née Key) Martin, Ed was raised in Newport, Kentucky.
A US Army medic during the Vietnam war, Martin spent his professional career as a Data Systems Analyst with Procter & Gamble. He retired in his 40s due to his hard work and dedication, allowing him more time to enjoy golfing and spending time with loved ones.
Martin was an avid golfer who won multiple tournaments throughout his life. He also held executive positions with various left-handed golf organizations and coached basketball and softball for both of his daughters' teams.
Known for his kind, considerate, and encouraging nature on and off the field, Martin's memory will live on through his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
