Beloved Matriarch Barbara Franks Passes Away at 97

Barbara Franks, a 97-year-old Philadelphia native, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026. Born to Nicholas and Edna Rossi, she grew up in South Philadelphia with her family's corner drugstore on 9th Street.

Her life story began when Dan, the manager of a Sherwin-Williams paint store, came to her home after an issue with paint from his store. This simple visit led to a lifelong relationship that included building a business together - Eck's Wallpaper in Cinnaminson - and summers spent in Sea Isle City.

As an Activities Director for Virtua Hospital Rehabilitation, Barbara dedicated herself to helping others. Even in her later years, she remained active and involved in her community, serving as President of the Resident Council at her assisted living facility.
