Benioff Blasts SaaSpocalypse Narrative After Salesforce Earnings Beat
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff is firing back at the SaaSpocalypse narrative, calling it 'nonsense' after his company posted strong earnings and announced a major partnership with Anthropic.
The software giant's stock surged over 20% on Thursday after reporting fiscal second-quarter revenue of $11.35 billion, an 11% increase from the same period last year, beating analyst expectations.
'This is not the SaaSpocalypse,' Benioff said in a post-earnings call with analysts, referencing the dire predictions about the end of software and AI models replacing human users.
The partnership with Anthropic, which brings Salesforce's tools to its Claude system, was seen as a key factor in the company's success. Analysts noted that leading AI companies are themselves large Salesforce customers, consuming CRM systems rather than replacing them.
