Berkshire Cracks Tech Fortress with Massive Alphabet Bet
Berkshire Hathaway has broken its 14-quarter streak of net equity selling by sharply increasing its Alphabet investment in the second quarter. According to a regulatory filing, Berkshire now holds nearly 106 million Alphabet shares worth around $37.8 billion, making Google's parent company the conglomerate's third-largest stock holding.
This represents an 83% increase from the roughly 57.8 million Alphabet shares Berkshire held three months earlier. The expansion was partially due to a private stock deal tied to Alphabet's push to expand artificial intelligence infrastructure, where Berkshire agreed to invest $10 billion in June.
The change is even more striking over a longer period: at the end of December 2025, Berkshire owned about 17.8 million Alphabet shares worth approximately $5.6 billion. Six months later, the position had grown significantly.
