Berkshire Doubles Down on Alphabet, Boosts Airlines
Berkshire Hathaway's stock portfolio has undergone significant changes in the second quarter of 2026, led by a substantial increase in its Alphabet stake. The company raised its holdings in Alphabet to about 106 million shares, representing an 83% boost and a position valued at nearly $38 billion as of June.
This makes Alphabet Berkshire's third-largest holding in the US, behind Apple and American Express. Buffett has expressed skepticism towards tech stocks, but views Apple as a consumer products company, according to CNBC. Greg Abel, who took over as CEO at the start of 2026, appears to be building on Buffett's decision to invest in Alphabet.
Berkshire also purchased $10 billion of Alphabet shares through a private placement in June, and Alphabet's stock has gained about 150% over the past five years.
