Berkshire Hathaway has significantly increased its stake in Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google, by about 83% during the second quarter. This move makes Alphabet one of Berkshire's largest equity investments, trailing only Apple and American Express in the portfolio's pecking order.

The increase adds approximately $17 billion in value to the position, with Berkshire now owning around 106 million shares of Alphabet, worth an estimated $37.9 billion to $24.2 billion depending on the reporting date cited.

This aggressive addition suggests that Berkshire's investment team under new CEO Greg Abel sees continued value in Alphabet despite its massive market capitalization.
