Berkshire Hathaway Expands Alphabet Stake, Trims Banking Exposure in Q2
Berkshire Hathaway's equity portfolio has undergone significant adjustments in Q2. The conglomerate expanded its stake in Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) by tens of millions of shares, lifting Class C holdings to over 27 million and bolstering its Class A position to nearly 79 million.
Simultaneously, Berkshire reduced its exposure to the banking sector, narrowing its Bank of America position by more than 30 million shares. The firm also unwound its entire holding in Constellation Brands Inc Class A (NYSE:STZ) and exited the beverage maker completely.
In contrast to this rotation away from financial services, Berkshire demonstrated a renewed appetite for cyclical and consumer-facing equities. It expanded its position in Delta Air Lines Inc (NYSE:DAL) by roughly 17.5 million shares and reinforced its traditional retail footprint by lifting its stake in Macy's Inc (NASDAQ:M) by over 4 million shares.
The conglomerate also indicated a continued focus on the housing sector, initiating a targeted new position in industry peer DR Horton Inc (NYSE:DHI). This adjustment reflects a measured portfolio refinement, balancing defensive capital preservation with targeted opportunistic allocations under newly installed CEO Greg Abel.
