Berkshire Hathaway Hits Eight-Month High Amid Apple-Fueled Rally
Berkshire Hathaway's Class B shares have reached an eight-month high, closing at $512.37 on July 28, Eastern Time. The stock price has been driven upward by three major holdings in its public equity portfolio: Apple, Coca-Cola, and Bank of America.
Apple has risen by over 13% year-to-date, with its holding market value exceeding $70 billion, making it the largest contributor to the overall increase in net asset value. However, despite its significant gain, Apple's weight in the public equity portfolio is approximately 20%, and its impact on the stock price is substantial.
New CEO Greg Abel has been actively adjusting Berkshire's investment portfolio since taking office. The company recently completed two major moves: acquiring homebuilder Taylor Morrison for $8.5 billion and increasing its stake in Alphabet to approximately $31 billion, making it the fifth-largest holding in the portfolio.
