Berkshire Hathaway Pours Billions into Alphabet and Tech Sector
Berkshire Hathaway has increased its stake in Alphabet to become one of its top three holdings, according to recent portfolio updates. The investment conglomerate's new CEO, Greg Abel, has led the charge on this move, with Berkshire buying shares of both major classes.
The result is a 12.4% stake in Alphabet, surpassing Apple and American Express as its largest positions. This investment may indicate that Berkshire's current management sees further room for growth in the technology sector, particularly in areas related to artificial intelligence.
In addition to this significant move, Berkshire has also opened smaller positions in DR Horton and continued to buy some of its existing holdings, such as Macy's, Delta Air Lines, and The New York Times. On the other hand, it has reduced its stake in Bank of America and other companies like Ally Financial and Kroger.
This is not an isolated move by Berkshire Hathaway. Other large investors, including Bill Ackman, Ray Dalio, and Stanley Druckenmiller, have also made significant changes to their portfolios in the last quarter.
