Berkshire Hathaway's Top Holdings Remain Consistent Under Greg Abel
Greg Abel's Berkshire Hathaway portfolio has seen some significant changes since he took over as CEO. However, one thing remains consistent - its top holdings remain largely unchanged from Warren Buffett's era. The four largest positions in the portfolio account for a combined 53.6% of the equity.
At the top is Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), which makes up 20.2% of the portfolio and has been the largest position for years. However, its concentration risk was reduced when management began selling off shares at the end of 2023. Despite this, Apple remains a strong pick, with excellent management under Tim Cook and a solid economic moat in its ecosystem.
Second is American Express (NYSE: AXP), which accounts for 13.7% of the portfolio and has been praised by Buffett for its global brand and travel-friendly model. The company's closed-loop credit card network allows it to fund its own loans, bringing cash into its system and enabling it to curate its customer base.
Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) is the longest-held position in the portfolio and has a dividend track record of 64 consecutive years, with a yield of 65% on the cost basis. Its leading position as a beverage brand is unlikely to be replaced by new tech, making it a solid pick for long-term investors.
Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL), the portfolio's only AI stock, has seen significant growth in its Google Cloud business and has a dominant market share in search. Its robust opportunities make it an attractive pick for long-term investors.
