Berkshire Surges Capital Deployment with Record Equity Purchases
Berkshire Hathaway's capital deployment has surged in the first half of 2026. The conglomerate purchased $39.4 billion worth of equity securities, a significant increase from $7.092 billion in the same period last year.
This investment activity coincided with a change in Berkshire's largest public equity holdings. As of June 30, its five largest positions were Alphabet, American Express, Apple, Bank of America, and Coca-Cola, accounting for 66% of the aggregate fair value of Berkshire's equity securities.
Berkshire also accelerated its share repurchases, acquiring approximately $4.527 billion of common stock during Q2. This is a notable increase from the $235 million purchased during the first quarter.
