Bezos' $4.1 Billion Stock Sale Hits Amazon Shares
Amazon's shares have been on a tear, surging more than 20% over two trading days after its latest earnings report. The tech giant's AWS revenue grew 37% year-over-year to $42.2 billion, its fastest growth in over four years.
Just as Amazon crossed the $3 trillion market-cap milestone, Jeff Bezos filed a Form 144 notice indicating he intends to sell up to 15 million shares worth around $4.1 billion at the filing price.
This has created some unease among investors, but it's essential to note that a Form 144 is merely a notification of an intended sale and doesn't mean all the shares were immediately sold.
Historically, when Bezos has filed similar notices in the past, Amazon's stock has fallen on the next trading day, with an average decline of around 1.1%.
However, it's crucial to remember that these short-term reactions are often temporary and don't necessarily indicate a long-term shift in Amazon's fundamentals or market sentiment.
