Bezos Sells $350M Amazon Shares Amid Record Market Value
Amazon's founder and largest individual shareholder Jeff Bezos has sold $350 million worth of shares, part of a larger plan to sell up to 15 million shares valued at over $4 billion. The sale comes as Amazon reaches record highs in market value, driven by strong performance in its cloud computing segment.
The company recently became the fifth globally to cross a $3 trillion valuation milestone after reporting strong quarterly earnings from its cloud division, AWS. Investor confidence remains high with Amazon's stock gaining around 18% so far this year.
Bezos' net worth has increased by approximately $38.7 billion this year, taking his total fortune close to $292 billion. The sale is part of a broader trend of increasing stock sales in recent years, with Bezos selling over $8.5 billion worth of shares alone in 2024.
Bezos continues to channel funds into his business ventures, particularly Blue Origin, which is seeking external investment for the first time and targeting a valuation of around $130 billion.
