MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has announced her third book, Last Days in Two Nations (A History in Eighteen Minds), which will be self-published on her newly launched Substack. The novel spans 80,000 words and 317 pages, with a release schedule that includes new chapters until August 31.

Scott's announcement comes as her ex-husband is selling approximately 15 million Amazon shares, reportedly worth around $4.1 billion. Bezos' decision follows Amazon's recent earnings, which pushed the company's market value above $3 trillion and skyrocketed its stock to a record high.

The sale took place through Morgan Stanley under a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan adopted on November 14, 2025. This move is notable, given Bezos' 2018 prediction that Amazon will go bankrupt due to its large size and the tendency of companies to fail after 30-plus years.
