Bezos Unloads $4 Billion Worth of Amazon Stock Despite Surging Earnings
Amazon founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos plans to sell up to 15 million Amazon shares worth approximately $4.07 billion through a prearranged trading plan.
The proposed transaction was valued at about $273 per share, based on the market value listed in the filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
This sale represents a small portion of Amazon's more than 10.78 billion shares outstanding, acquired by Bezos as founder stock through Amazon's original issuance on July 5, 1994.
Bezos had no reportable sales of Amazon securities during the previous three months and contributed 220,200 shares to nonprofit organizations on May 4, which may have been subsequently sold.
