Bezos Unloads Nearly $4B in Amazon Shares Amid Record Market Cap
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has filed documents to sell 15 million shares worth nearly $4 billion. The sale is part of a pre-approved Rule 10b5-1 trading plan adopted in November 2025, which will be carried out through Morgan Stanley.
This is the first major share sale by Bezos since the end of 2024 and comes at a time when Amazon's market capitalization has surpassed $3 trillion for the first time. The company's share-price growth accelerated after its latest quarterly financial report, whose results exceeded market expectations.
Amazon's total revenue exceeded $200 billion in the second quarter, with operating profit rising by approximately 43% to $27 billion. The AWS division delivered particularly strong results, with a 37% increase in revenue to over $42 billion, marking its highest quarterly growth rate in over two years.
