Amazon's market capitalization reached an impressive $3 trillion milestone on August 3, with shares closing over 4.5% higher.

However, a regulatory disclosure shortly after revealed that founder Jeff Bezos intends to divest 15 million shares, valued at approximately $4.07 billion, under a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan established in November 2025.

This news tempered investor enthusiasm just hours after the company's landmark achievement and led to a decline of about 1% in Amazon's share price during overnight trading.

Bezos's planned sale will reduce his shareholdings from 884 million to 869 million, representing around 8.1% of Amazon's total outstanding shares of 10.79 billion.
