Biman Bangladesh Airlines is expanding its fleet by inviting international proposals to dry lease three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft for six years. The airline aims to induct the wide-body jets by January 1, 2027.

The response for the first Request for Proposal (RFP) was poor, prompting Biman to float a new one on August 10. The submission deadline for proposals is set at 10:00am BST (0400 GMT) on August 25.

Under the dry lease agreement, the lessor will provide the aircraft, while the airline assumes responsibility for its operation, including pilots, cabin crew, maintenance, and insurance. Biman has specified that the aircraft must not be more than 15 years old as of June 30, 2027, and should be powered by GEnx-1B74/75 engines with a maximum take-off weight of 254,000 kg.

The aircraft must have a two-class configuration with over 300 seats, including 180-degree full-flat Business Class seats and at least 31-inch seat pitch in Economy Class. Preference will be given to sister-ship aircraft offered by the same lessor.
