Biman Set to Sign Multibillion-Dollar Airbus Deal

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to sign a multibillion-dollar deal with Airbus by August 31 to purchase 10 aircraft, expanding its fleet. The deal follows Biman's recent $3.7 billion agreement with Boeing.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat confirmed the government's decision to proceed with the acquisition of 10 Airbus aircraft. Deliveries are expected to begin from 2031, so until then, Biman will lease aircraft to address its fleet shortage.

The proposed purchase is part of a long-term roadmap to expand Biman's fleet to 47 aircraft by fiscal 2034-35 and modernize the flag carrier. The addition of Boeing and Airbus orders would expand the fleet to 43 aircraft.
