Bird Strike False Alarm Grounds American Airlines Flight at LaGuardia
On September 4th at LaGuardia Airport, American Airlines flight AA392's takeoff attempt was aborted after the crew suspected a bird strike. The Boeing 737-800 had already reached a speed of approximately 140 mph down the runway when the pilots initiated the emergency stop.
The Federal Aviation Administration briefly grounded all flights in and out of LGA as a precautionary measure, but it was later determined that there was no actual damage to the plane from a bird strike.
After a thorough inspection by maintenance technicians, which included checking the engine for any potential damage and inspecting the landing gear, tires, and brakes, AA392 returned to service with no issues found. The flight eventually departed from LaGuardia and arrived safely at Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD).
