Blizzard Takes the Top Spot as Xbox's Best-Performing Studio
Microsoft's gaming business has been struggling lately due to poor results stemming from bad decisions made by previous administrations. However, there is some good news, and it comes from Blizzard Entertainment, a veteran studio with decades of experience that has recently become the top-performing studio in Xbox Game Studios. According to an internal email obtained by Windows Central, Blizzard finished fiscal year 2026 as the top-performing studio in the division.
The company's president, Johanna Faries, celebrated the results achieved in recent years and highlighted that Blizzard had not experienced consecutive years of growth since 2017, when Fortnite took the world by storm and changed the gaming landscape forever. In fiscal year 2026, Blizzard finished the year as the top-performing studio, and this past year marked its third-highest fiscal year for commercial revenue in Blizzard's history.
The success can be attributed to Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred and Overwatch, which performed exceptionally well, with Overwatch delivering its best quarter since 2022. Blizzard's importance to Microsoft's gaming business cannot be overstated, as the company faced its own workplace scandals in recent years but has now stabilized, translating into the quality of its current projects.
