Bloom Energy Enters S&P 500 as The Trade Desk Exits
Bloom Energy Corp., along with Illumina Inc. and Everpure, is joining the S&P 500 index in its quarterly rebalance on September 21. The move comes as part of a broader reshuffling that also sees several companies leave the index. Bloom Energy rose 5.63% premarket after the announcement, while Illumina gained 1.04% and Everpure increased by 2.70%. In contrast, The Trade Desk Inc., Molson Coors Beverage Co., and Builders FirstSource Inc. will be leaving the S&P 500 and joining the SmallCap 600.
The quarterly rebalance is a regular process that sees companies enter or exit various indices based on their market capitalization. Companies like Dell Technologies, Palo Alto Networks, Arista Networks, and Sandisk Corp. will join the S&P 100 index, while Honeywell Aerospace, NIKE Inc., Simon Property Group Inc., and Colgate-Palmolive Co. will leave.
The changes take effect on September 21, when Bloom Energy officially becomes part of the S&P 500. Investors can expect to see the new lineup reflected in their portfolios from that date onwards.
