Boeing 737-7 Finally Cleared for Commercial Service
The Boeing 737-7 has finally received certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), allowing it to carry passengers. The smallest member of the 737 MAX family, which includes the popular MAX 8 and MAX 9 models, took over eight years to certify due to intense post-crash scrutiny and a redesign of its engine anti-ice system.
The certification process involved more than 1,000 hours of flight and ground testing, as well as exhaustive safety and human-factors reviews. According to Boeing's President and CEO Stephanie Pope, the certification 'validates the rigor of our airplane's design' and recognizes the determination and resilience of its development team.
The launch customer for the 737-7 is Southwest Airlines, which has been waiting patiently for this moment. The airline has already assembled aircraft ready for delivery and is preparing to receive the first planes with final configuration updates.
