Boeing 737 Pulled by Hundreds for Charity
Hundreds of people are set to pull a Boeing 737 aircraft for charity at Bournemouth Airport in Dorset. The event, known as the Dorset Plane Pull, is now in its 17th year and has raised £400,000 for charity since it started in 2009. This year's competition will see over 30 teams of about 20 members each attempt to pull the 35-tonne aircraft over a distance of 50m (164ft) in the fastest time possible.
The event's organizer, Richard Griffin, said they are 'absolutely delighted' to be returning for the Dorset Plane Pull and have more than 30 eager teams ready to take on the challenge. The money raised this year will go towards supporting 20 charities involved with the event.
Teams are due to start the pull at 10:00 BST on Monday, with the fastest recorded time in the event's history being 25.70 seconds. Trophies will also be awarded for the best fancy dress, best team name, and fastest pull time.
