A senior Boeing 767 captain has lost his bid to overturn his dismissal from Raya Airways Sdn Bhd over safety breaches.

Captain Ezil Azlan Ahmad Muniran was terminated in November 2022 after a safety incident involving a domestic flight to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang on April 24, 2022.

The aircraft's descent rate exceeded 2,000 feet per minute between altitudes of 3,000 and 1,000 feet, and the pilot failed to initiate a mandatory go-around procedure during an unstable approach below 1,000 feet.

The Industrial Court chairman Eswary Maree upheld Raya Airways' decision, ruling that commercial airline pilots must strictly comply with flight safety requirements and standard operating procedures.
