A Boeing 777F freighter, operated by National Airlines, has flown an astonishing 9,849 nautical miles nonstop from Glasgow Prestwick to Melbourne. This feat exceeds its published range of 4,970 nm by a significant margin.

The flight, which took place on August 4, carried lightweight cargo for a grounded Jetstar 787. The aircraft's fuel capacity and lighter airframe allowed it to fly like a passenger variant, taking advantage of identical fuel capacity without the need for special modifications or empty loads.

Aircraft range figures typically assume typical operational loads, not maximum fuel capacity. In this case, the 777F's rating assumes 102 tons of cargo, but with minimal payload, the plane effectively flew beyond its rated range.
