Boeing Advances in US Army Air Defense Competition with Anduril-Powered Interceptor
The US Army has selected Boeing to advance to Phase 2 of the Integrated Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) Increment 2 Second Interceptor competition. The company's interceptor, paired with Anduril rocket motor, is designed to protect fixed and forward operating bases from cruise missiles and militarized drones.
The midrange missile combines Boeing's seeker technology with a solid rocket motor and a Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA). This architecture allows components such as the seeker or avionics to be changed without redesigning the entire weapon, increasing efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The compact design also enables more interceptors to be carried in each magazine, increasing the number of engagements available before a launcher needs to be reloaded.
In a separate statement, Anduril highlighted its production infrastructure behind its contribution, including a $100 million investment in its Mississippi Solid Rocket Motor Complex and $58 million in Defense Production Act funding. The company claims to have consolidated the US solid rocket motor market with two suppliers.
