Boeing Advances to Phase 2 in US Army Air Defense Competition
The US Army has selected Boeing to advance to Phase 2 of the Integrated Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) Increment 2 Second Interceptor competition.
The midrange missile is intended to protect fixed and forward operating bases from cruise missiles, militarized drones, and related aerial threats.
Boeing pairs its seeker with a solid rocket motor from Anduril Rocket Motor Systems, which has built a production infrastructure in Mississippi at a cost of over $158 million.
The company highlighted that the compact design would allow more interceptors to be carried in each magazine, increasing the number of engagements available before a launcher must be reloaded.
