Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines Develop Next Generation Aviation Leaders

Ethiopian Airlines and Boeing have successfully completed their 2026 STEM School program, providing over 300 hours of immersive aviation education to 28 grade 11 students at Ethiopian Aviation University.

The four-week program blended digital skills with soft skills, rigorous classroom instruction, internships, mentorship, and field visits. Students visited the airline's cargo facility, MRO facility, university facilities, museums, and a Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight simulator.

Boeing has invested $14.5 million in partnerships with African universities and non-profits over the last decade, supporting more than 58,500 people through STEM programs across the continent.

Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tasew said the program is 'a direct investment in Ethiopia's future,' while Boeing's Henok Teferra Shawl noted that Africa needs an estimated 75,000 new aviation professionals over the next 20 years.
