Boeing Bets Big on Electric Air Travel with Archer Stake
Boeing has sold Wisk Aero and two related businesses to Archer in exchange for new shares, giving Boeing a 16.5% stake in the company.
The deal comes three years after Archer and Wisk settled a lawsuit over trade secrets and intellectual property.
Archer now owns Wisk outright, which was previously its sole supplier of autonomous systems.
Wisk's history dates back to Kittyhawk, an electric aviation startup that shut down in 2022 but left behind several aircraft, including the Flyer, Heaviside, and Cora.
The Cora program became Wisk, a joint venture with Boeing that poured in $450 million in 2022 before Boeing owned Wisk outright by 2023.
