Boeing Boosts SM-3 Production Amid Growing Missile Threats
Boeing has secured seven-year framework agreements with the U.S. Department of War and Raytheon to boost production of key hardware for the Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) Block IB and IIA interceptors.
The contracts cover avionics and ejector assemblies, which are essential components in enabling precise interception of missile threats outside Earth's atmosphere.
According to Boeing, this increased production capacity will support higher rates for both SM-3 variants as demand increases.
Bob Ciesla, vice president of Boeing Precision Engagement Systems, stated that the new framework gives a 'clear demand signal' to build and deliver SM-3 interceptors at needed levels to counter threats.
The effort also supports the administration's Arsenal of Freedom initiative and the Department of War's Acquisition Transformation Strategy, both focused on accelerating production and delivery of key military capabilities.
