Boeing Completes First 737 MAX Landing Gear Exchange
Boeing has marked a significant milestone in its Landing Gear Exchange Program by completing the first landing gear exchange for a 737 MAX aircraft. The exchange involved Boeing supplying an overhauled and certified landing gear assembly with installation kit, excluding wheels, tires, and brakes.
The program allows airlines to exchange landing gear assemblies rather than conducting in-place overhauls or maintaining spare inventory. According to William Ampofo, senior vice president of Parts & Distribution and Supply Chain at Boeing Global Services, the milestone extends a capability previously available on other Boeing aircraft to the 737 MAX fleet.
Boeing is increasing global overhaul capacity and working with certified maintenance, repair, and overhaul partners to expand geographic availability. The company plans to enlarge 737 MAX exchange inventory and add forward-exchange slots closer to customer operations.
