Boeing Defense Business Takes Flight as Global Demand Rises

Boeing's defense business is emerging as a key growth driver for the company. The segment, known as Defense, Space & Security (BDS), generated $7.5 billion in revenue during the second quarter of this year, a 13% increase from the same period last year.

This growth can be attributed to Boeing's large defense backlog, which stands at approximately $85 billion. Notably, 27% of this backlog comes from international customers, providing the company with exposure to global defense demand.

Boeing is also benefiting from the development and production of several major programs. The MQ-25A Stingray completed its first flight and received Milestone C, clearing the way for low-rate initial production. Similarly, the U.S. Air Force's T-7A Red Hawk achieved Milestone C and began production.

Boeing is positioning itself to capitalize on emerging trends in defense spending, including secure communications and space capabilities. The company recently announced a partnership with Rheinmetall to offer the MQ-28 Ghost Bat to Germany, underscoring its commitment to meeting evolving customer needs.
