Boeing Employees Give Back to Community Through Liftoff for Learning
Boeing employees in Gary and Chicago recently wrapped up their annual school supply drive, known as Liftoff for Learning. The program, which has been running for over 40 years, provides students with essential tools to start the new academic year.
Bernice Billups, Boeing's executive director of strategy, advocacy, and global engagement, spoke at the event held at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana Tolleston Opportunity Campus in Gary. The campus was heavily damaged by a derecho in August but has since been renovated with the help of Boeing.
This year's drive raised funds for a total of 750 kids, providing them with backpacks filled with composition books, spiral notebooks, pencils, crayons, markers, glue sticks, folders, and more. Billups said that every school supply imaginable was included in the donations.
