Boeing Engineers Authorize Strike Amid Production Surge

Boeing has increased its production of 737 aircraft to 47 per month, the highest rate in years. This is up from a limit of 38 per month imposed by regulators earlier this year due to safety concerns.

The company's engineers and technical workers, represented by SPEEA, have rejected contract offers and authorized a strike. The current contracts expire at midnight on October 6.

A strike would not directly halt the assembly lines, but it could stall engineering support and certification work for new aircraft models, including the 737-10.

Boeing is taking the risk seriously and has implemented its contingency plan. However, there is a glimmer of hope as SPEEA and Boeing are set to meet on Monday to restart talks.
