Boeing Engineers Reject Contract, Authorize Strikes Ahead of Aircraft Certification
Boeing engineers have voted down a proposed contract and authorized strikes in protest. The union representing the engineers, SPEEA, said that a majority of its professional and technical unit members rejected the terms.
The rejection sets the stage for a challenging few weeks for Boeing as it completes certification for crucial aircraft models like the 737 Max 10 and 77X.
Boeing Vice President Ben Nimmergut stated, 'We gave a strong contract offer to position our employees among the market leaders in pay and benefits in the Pacific Northwest.'
The earliest a strike could occur is October 7, according to Boeing. The union has no further talks scheduled with Boeing.
