Boeing Engineers Reject Contract Offers, Strike Looms in October
Boeing engineers and technicians have rejected the company's latest contract offers, potentially leading to a work stoppage in October. The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) chapter at Boeing has voted against the separate offers extended to them, with the Technical Unit voting 71% against and the Professional Unit voting 64% against.
The workers' current contract expires on October 6, and a strike could occur as soon as October 7. SPEEA members raised concerns about job security, salaries falling behind inflation, and quality and safety taking a backseat to schedule.
Boeing has stated that it will continue running the business in the event of a strike, leveraging qualified resources to ensure customer needs are met with an emphasis on safety and quality. The company is implementing contingency planning to protect business continuity and keep delivering for customers.
