Boeing Engineers' Union to Resume Contract Talks on September 8
Boeing and its engineers' union will resume contract negotiations on September 8 after talks broke down following the rejection of Boeing's four-year contract offer by SPEEA members on August 21.
The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) represents over 17,000 engineers and technical workers in Washington and other states. In an internal survey, their top priority was higher general wage increases from Boeing in the next offer.
Boeing engineers and technical workers voted overwhelmingly to reject the four-year contract offer, with a potential strike looming on October 6 when the current contract expires.
A work stoppage by SPEEA members could further delay Boeing's certification campaigns for its 737 Max 10 and 777-9 planes, which are already several years behind schedule.
