Boeing Expands Landing Gear Exchange Program to 737 MAX
Boeing and American Airlines have collaborated on the first landing gear exchange for a Boeing 737 MAX. This marks the expansion of Boeing's 'Landing Gear Exchange Program' to the 737 MAX aircraft type.
The program allows operators to replace costly spare parts with overhauled, Boeing-certified landing gear. This can reduce aircraft downtime and alleviate the burden of storing spare parts.
For this exchange, Boeing provided overhauled main and nose landing gear assemblies along with installation kits. Wheels, tires, and brakes were not included in the exchange.
The process was validated to confirm its consistency across 737 MAX aircraft.
