Boeing Expands Satellite Production with Millennium Space Systems
Boeing is expanding its satellite production capacity and broadening its portfolio to meet increasing demand from government and commercial customers. The company, along with its subsidiary Millennium Space Systems, plans to scale manufacturing output, enhance product offerings, and improve flexibility in satellite deployment across multiple mission requirements.
The initiative includes the introduction of a new mid-class satellite platform called Resolute, designed to offer capabilities between traditional small satellites and larger satellite systems. This platform is built using existing components and avionics systems developed by Millennium Space Systems, targeting applications such as communications and sensing in different orbital environments.
Boeing aims to deliver 26 satellites in 2026 as part of its efforts to increase production output. The company has invested in standardized manufacturing processes, shared components, and integration across its satellite programs to support this expansion. Millennium Space Systems is also increasing its production capacity to manage a growing order backlog while maintaining flexibility to customize spacecraft based on mission requirements.
According to Kay Sears, vice president and general manager of Boeing Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems, 'We're aligning our space business to meet a market that is moving faster and asking for more flexibility.' Tony Gingiss, CEO of Millennium Space Systems, stated that this expansion is about building production depth, common architecture, and capacity to scale with demand.
