Boeing Integrates Self-Defense System onto P-8A Poseidon Aircraft
Boeing will begin integrating the BAE Systems Advanced Survivability Pod (ASP) onto P-8A Poseidon aircraft used by the US and Australian militaries. The Defense Department announced this on August 11, indicating that Boeing's work on the self-defense upgrade is set to start.
The ASP system aims to protect against missile attacks, which are a significant threat to these submarine-hunting aircraft. By integrating the ASP, Boeing will enhance the survivability of the P-8A fleet.
With this integration, the P-8A Poseidon aircraft will gain a crucial layer of protection against hostile forces.
