Boeing Jet Deliveries Plummet by 17% as Airbus Takes Lead
Boeing's July jet deliveries plummeted by 17% compared to June, when it handed over 64 planes. However, the number of jets delivered was still five more than in the same period last year, totaling 53 units. This decrease is a stark contrast to its European rival Airbus, which delivered 67 planes in July.
The majority of Boeing's deliveries consisted of 39 737 MAX jets and 10 787s. Additionally, one 777 freighter and three 767s were also handed over during the month. The company's total jet deliveries for the year now stand at 367 units, with 279 being 737 MAX jets.
In terms of new orders, Boeing booked 30 net additions in July after adjusting for cancellations. This includes a significant order from Irish leasing giant SMBC Aviation for 100 737 MAX jets. Although the exact details of this deal were not specified, it is noteworthy that most of these orders had been announced during the Farnborough Airshow.
