Boeing Lands $75M Contract for JDAM LR Production
Boeing has received a $75 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to begin production of the BSU-111/B payload delivery unit for the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) long range variant, also known as GBU-75.
The undefinitized contract action allows Boeing to start initial production of JDAM LR wing and engine kits, which will be delivered to the U.S. Navy.
According to Boeing, this first production contract is a major milestone for the JDAM LR program, demonstrating their ability to deliver long-range precision-strike capability at a lower cost.
Bob Ciesla, vice president of Boeing Precision Engagement Systems, said 'This first production contract is a major milestone for the JDAM LR program, demonstrating our ability to deliver long-range precision-strike capability at a significantly lower cost.'
